Broken Hill

Posted about 1 year ago

From Bourke I arrived in Broken Hill. Until now, I've only grabbed a few snaps along the way and haven't really gone after any landscapes. The landscape hunting starts from here.

Silverton, 30km from Broken Hill was an interesting place.

Coming back from Silverton a kangaroo lept out in front of me as they are wont to do. He didn't give me enough time to react so my evasive action was not sufficient and he went down the left side of the car. I now have a dent in my left passenger door and he ripped the left rear door guard clean off. I came out better than he did though.

So it was out with the tools for the first (hopefully only) repair job of the trip. All good as new now except for the dent and one less roo. That day, in Broken Hill, I purchased some spotlights.

There were so many roos out there -- I saw them in hundreds of tens -- it's amazing that I only hit one.

Some more shots from around the area:

(I know how much some of my readers like lizard shots)

The guys at the tourist information centre were interested in seeing my shots and once they saw them, we got to talking about putting them on postcards for them to sell.

I really went to town on the sculpture things, but they were quite spectacular.
